DTS Chairman and CEO Jon Kirchner Wins Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year® Award for Greater Los Angeles

CALABASAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- DTS, Inc. (Nasdaq: DTSI), a leader in high-definition audio, today announced that Jon Kirchner, the company's chairman and CEO, is a winner of Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur Of The Year® Award for Greater Los Angeles. The winners were selected by an independent judging panel made up of previous winners of the award, leading CEOs, private capital investors and other regional business leaders.

Now in its 26th year, the Entrepreneur of the Year Program has expanded to recognize business leaders in more than 140 cities in more than 50 countries throughout the world. Awards are given to entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.

Kirchner held numerous leadership roles at DTS before taking on the position of CEO in 2001 and later becoming chairman and CEO in 2010. Recognized for growing DTS from a start-up to one of the most profitable and highly valued companies in its industry, Kirchner has guided the company through its rapid international expansion while successfully raising public and private capital. Kirchner brings an unwavering focus to building a premium brand while fostering a loyal, team-oriented and passionate employee culture.

Kirchner also serves as chairman of the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO) Santa Monica Bay charitable foundation, which provides funding to disadvantaged Los Angeles high school students who show promise despite trying odds. He routinely speaks to MBA and undergraduate students about entrepreneurship and executive leadership and serves on the board of trustees at Claremont McKenna College. Additionally, he formerly served as chairman of the advisory board for the Berger Institute for Work, Family and Children.

The Entrepreneur of the Year Program honors entrepreneurs regionally in June, leading up to the national awards in November. Additionally, venture-backed companies that win an Entrepreneur of the Year Award regionally are also eligible for the Venture Capital Award of Excellence at the national level. The U.S. Entrepreneur of the Year Overall Award winner then moves on to compete for the World Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
