DTS Partners with castLabs to Create UltraViolet™ Surround Sound Experience
castLabs Suite of Products for UltraViolet Now Offers Enhanced
Entertainment on Connected Devices with DTS High-Performance Audio
Solutions
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
DTS,
Inc. (Nasdaq: DTSI), a leader in high-definition audio technology,
today announced that it has partnered with castLabs—an
innovative mobile video technologies and services company—to integrate
DTS audio solutions into castLabs' UltraViolet™ compatible product
suite. UltraViolet
offers consumers breakthrough freedom and flexibility in how they watch
and collect home entertainment. The first-ever end-to-end common file
format tool kit—which consists of authoring tool, download service
(DSP), DASH-based streaming service (LASP) and playback application—now
incorporates DTS high-quality technology to deliver immersive surround
sound experience.
"Together with DTS we are leading the way in digital content creation
and distribution, as we continue to successfully meet the increasing
demands for digital entertainment that does not compromise premium sound
quality," said Michael Stattmann, managing director at castLabs. "The
UltraViolet Common File Format (CFF) is here to stay and through
strategic partnerships with superior technology partners like DTS, we
are enabling content providers and retailers to create and distribute
superior quality CFF digital entertainment content."
castLabs is the first company to provide an Android-based video player
fully compatible with the UltraViolet CFF format. The video player's
seamless integration with DTS technology enables consumers to enjoy
immersive surround sound at home and on-the-go. The UltraViolet-enabled
cloud service platform developed by castLabs is tailored to the
requirements of content providers and retailers, as it delivers the
necessary features to enable businesses to create and stream content
compliant with the UltraViolet standard. Integration of DTS technology
into these tools not only enables surround sound experience on portable
devices, but also supports playback in the living room, turning a
portable device into a personal media center.
Brian Towne, executive vice president and chief operating officer at
DTS, Inc., commented, "We're committed to ensuring digital entertainment
offers consumers the highest quality sound experience on any device and
believe our collaboration with castLabs will enable content creators and
retailers to deliver high-definition entertainment content with superior
audio quality across multiple devices."
